The NOAA Technology Partnerships Office, or TPO, serves the needs of both NOAA inventors and U.S. companies looking to partner with NOAA or license our technologies.  Located in Silver Spring, MD, the NOAA TPO oversees both NOAA's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program and the Technology Transfer Program.  The Technology Partnerships Office also provides specific technical and communication/outreach services to all NOAA labs.

NOAA device allows assisted rescue of incapacitated crew

The NOAA Man Overboard Device allows a single rescuer to attach a lifting harness to an unresponsive victim who is unable to assist in their own rescue.  That is the most significant advantage that our device has over existing rescue devices. Our device does not require the rescuer to enter the water to assist the victim. I feel that any vessel equipped with both a Life Sling and our device can recover an MOB in almost any situation.

iGage: A Cost Effective Instrument for Measuring River Height and Snow Depth

NOAA is seeking commercial partners for manufacturing and distribution of this new instrument

The iGage is a low-cost, portable, rapidly deployable sonar instrument for providing river stage and snow depth information.  Developed by NOAA for remote field use in Alaska, the iGage is lightweight, durable, and compact, measuring just 5” x 7” x 3”.  The device is solar-powered so it requires no existing site power and can be boom-mounted to a variety of fixed platforms.
